Latest statue is in

So I've wanted to get a few things in memory of my cat but never found anything I was happy with.  Took me a while but I got that little winged cat statue earlier, posted a pic of it.  But finally my second piece has come in.

I love this thing.  Its almost 16" tall so its a fairly good size.  I also didnt want to put this outside unlike the other for fear the colours would wash away over time with the rain and stuff.  So its placed in the lounge room.  Love it.  Should of had it a month ago but stupid people being stupid forced me to wait longer.  Now I'm just waiting on my custom statue of Kyo to be finished.  Been 2 weeks so far.  The lady said it would take up to 6 weeks.  So I'm hoping I'll get an update in a couple weeks.  Really looking forward to it.

What...

So I've been powering through a whole bunch of awesome 80s cartoon series that I've always meant to catch up on.  One of them being Dungeons and Dragons.  Now back then there were always weird anomalies in this or that scene.  One person had 2 eyes looking in different directions, another the wrong persons voice was coming out of a characters mouth, or this or that was coloured totally wrong for a few panels.  Its just how it was and at times it was pretty entertaining to see them.  Until this bit in D&D popped up and pretty much frightened the crap out of me.

This was one of the characters looking up at something.  And in the next panel his hat fals back.  And what would you expect to see?  Not THIS!












WHERE DID THE BACK OF HIS SKULL GO!!!!  And how is his hat staying on!!  Honestly artists, this is just too much even for me.

Titanfall

So I didnt get to play it really.  I messed with the tutorial and watched Royce play it over at his place.  Didnt realize the beta was only on for a couple days or so.  But from what I experienced it isnt a game for me.  It's going to sell really well since the xbone users are twitching for something good to play thats exclusive (its on pc but they dont know this), so it'll be a sort of siege mentality in claiming its the greatest game to combat the ps4.  I do see most people losing interest in the long run though and going back to COD.  I think its got too many game mechanics that the average gamer wont want to learn and adapt to.  Thats my take though, it could sell 100 billion copies and be the top multiplayer game for the next decade so who am I to say.

Gift for my cat

I saw this online and just had to have it.  I've placed it over the spot where his ashes are buried.  I'd thought about getting a plaque for the lower part of it but then pushed that idea away.  Maybe I'll get a sloping plaque to put in front of it.  Not sure.  I'll figure it out at some stage.

Valentines day!

Yep!  Its another one!  And all the single people are probably moping and sulking about how they're so lonely while other couples do couple things.  Not this guy!  Happily single and still loving it!  I also went and bought this shit!

In the last few stages.  But it wont stop here!  Since Jed is officially back on the net you can look forward to us playing random fan created maps.  And at some stage we will create some ourselves.  At least thats the plan lol

Catching up with old Cartoons

I've been doing my best to get through shows from the late 70s and 80s, ones that were supposed to be awesome and ones I never finished as a kid.  I'd never heard of Thundarr The Barbarian so I grabbed a few episodes and I absolutely loved it.  Watched the whole series.  I grabbed another that has good feeback called Blackstar,  I've only seen a few episodes so far but its pretty weak.  Not sure if I'll continue it.  And finally I finished Pirates of Dark Water.  That show was beyond epic.  So many big name voice actors in it too.  Megatron, Optimus, Ariel just to name a few.  Even Superman!  I'd only ever seen a few episodes when I was younger.  The stupid video store just never got more than a couple or so tapes and they were all out of order.  They drove me up the wall with Robotech but thats another story.

I have a bunch of others I still need to get through like Prince Valiant, Gandahar, and Dungeons and Dragons, which I did begin watching when I was younger but I know I havent seen majority of it.  One other thing I'd like to bring up and rant about is a super old series called Captain Future.

I'd grown up with certain things and few potent ones were Voltes V, Captain Harlock, and Captain Future.  Voltes V was pretty much a dubbed movie length that was edited from the first 4 episodes of the series, being 52 (I think) episodes long.  Back then there was nothing else but that and I always had the feeling there was more.  I only managed to get the full japanese subtitled version of it a few years ago and that closed a chapter in my childhood.  Love it to death.  Still need to watch the other 2 series that creator made, Daimos and Combattler.  Luckily I have them.

Harlock I actually remember very little of what I had.  It was definitely dubbed annd maybe 2 episodes.  Not sure.  At some stage I'll look it up and see about grabbing the older ones.  I know some new series were made that werent meant to be that good.  But Japan is shit when it comes to Anime these days.

Now Captain Future... That was the same as Voltes V.  The first 4 episodes spliced into a dubbed movie.  I have no idea what happened to my tape of it.  I've found torrents of the english dub movie online, and they are pretty horrid in quality, but I'll sit through it again at some stage.  I've also found out this too had 52 episodes.  Heres where it gets stupid..  I've only found the first 4 episodes of the japanese series with subtitles.  Other than that theres very good quality versions of all 52 episodes on youtube, but its in german.  And NOT subtitled!  WTF am I supposed to do with this.  Distraught isnt even close to how I feel over it.  I might be forced to watch it in german and have no clue whats happening.  Bleah.

Tomb Raider Definitive Version thoughts

So a while back they put up news about this new version and how it looks like it will only be on the ps4 and xbone.  I really wanted to know how much better it would be from the PC version but they were not showing video examples, just always ps3/xbox360 ones.  So now that its finally out I got to look through all the videos and screenshots and reviews and I can say pretty happily that I dont have any interest in this one coming to PC, which is probably why its only for consoles since I cant figure out why a PC gamer would want it.

When compared to the older consoles its pretty much night and day difference.  The game wasnt that pretty on the consoles.  But yes if you own a ps4/xbone and you either never played it before, played it only on the previous gen consoles, and also do not own a pc that can run it, I'd say its totally worth grabbing.  They didnt just improve some graphics, but from the looks of it redesigned entire levels from scratch to support the new updated look.  Which is a huge amount of time and money spent just on a facelift.  That confuses me some.

So regarding the PC version, I went and got some screenshots that really show some of the changes between the two versions.

The first 3 screens show off Lara's new model.  I absolutely hate it.  Look at the face.  Especially in that second screen.  Everything about it is off.  The lips dont look right, the nose doesnt fit, the eyes, oh my god the eyes.  She looks like a zombie.  The expressions she makes in the games now look hollow and empty.  She looks like she's had a bunch of botox and surgery done so that now little on her face moves like it used to.  I think its absolutely horrible.

The last 2 are mostly about particle effects.  They say they added more.  Oh sure theres more than the previous consoles 100%.  But compared to the PC version not so much.  The camp fire has more little sparks which is nice.  Though in that explosion shot you'll see theres more particles in the PC version.  One thing that bugged me was the colours they have in the new version.  Its over saturated.  I like extra colour.  But its off in this.  Look at the rainy sky.  You cant even see the rain in the definitive version because of the crush that the contrast gives.  Ignoring that you can manually change the saturation in the PC version, but why would you want to make it look like that?

Overall if you already have this for PC, dont worry about the new Definitive version on consoles.  If you dont have a PC and spent all your money on the new consoles, then go for that.  The graphics are 10 times better than the ps3/360.  But that new Lara head....eeeeeeewwwwwwww.

Some Tomb Raider highlights

I didnt plan on recording my game play of this but decided to a little ways in after I'd done a couple things I thought were worth showing.  Like headshotting 2 enemies with 1 arrow or falling through a building into the earth and dying.  Sadly I didnt get those two bits.

So me and my buddy Dubz messed around with this game briefly.  Heres my little trailer for it and a link to his longer version since he did the recording.  Very fun game if you like Gauntlet style.  Gonna be a riot when we get 4 of us together.  Just in time too as Jed is BACK online!
