OH BABY

Guess who finally set up his sound system.  Go on..go on guess... GUESS!    Took me a while, reshifted a few things, but it all works perfectly.  I'm going to wait till tomorrow to actually configure the sound to exactly how I want it since I need it a little loud to do that, and 10pm is a bit late to start blasting crap.  But yeah, super happy over all.  Bitches be hearing my bass!

On the subject of sound, well not really, I'm going to shift to movies, which was the primary reason I got this setup.  Obviously everyone knows I'm twitching to get my hands on the aliens pack.  Alien was one of the very few films I had trouble sitting through as a kid.  I pretty much grew up on horror films, watching stuff like Christopher Lee's Dracula films ( who I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of, got a personalized signed autobiography book from him FUCK YEAH~!), and various other werewolf, monster, etc films.  Pretty much from the age of 6 I'm watching horror films.  Nothing creeped me out.  EXCEPT for Alien which I couldnt actually watch properly until I was 9.  The other film that still creeps me out some was The Dark Crystal.  Awesome movie, but the way those fucking puppets moved...argh.  Just freaky.

I recall lots of films from the 80s and 90s that were supposed to be scary but most of the time turned out to be more comedy then anything to me.  I recall when Blair Witch was first showing at our cinemas.  All my friends were pretty much hyping themselves up about it, saying it was one of the scariest movies to ever come out, people in america were pissing themselves in the cinema etc.  So we went and saw it and came out sort of.............  I remember seeing the faces of everyone else in the cinema.  They all had that same waxed dull expression like they'd wasted their time.  We then decided to mock the america audiences haha.

There have been some good films though.  You all probably know or have seen the fairly recent film Quarintine, which was based off the spanish film REC.  The American remake is poor, substandard. not very entertaining at all.  The spanish version, now theres a good film.  There was even one part in it that made me jump, and it wasnt one of those stupid loud noise moments either.  It was a totally unexpected thing that was screwed up in the American version.  I dont know how that director killed the remake so badly.  Everything from the acting to the VERY CLEAN looking shadowy camera view.  It just looked off from the very beginning.  If you havent seen the remake and your brain works while reading subtitles, seriously get your hands on a copy and watch it.  Excellent film.

I dont find many english movies to be scary.  Seems all the good ones are from europe or asia.  Everyone obviously knows The Ring.  That one wasnt scary to me, but it was quite enjoyable.  I was also very pleased with the remake.  They did it really well.  The Eye was also pretty good and had some genuinely creepy moments.  The American remake...not so much.  Also the japanese film Kario was extremely unnerving.  It was remade as 'Pulse' with the adorably gorgeous Kristen Bell who I love to death.  Despite my infatuation with her I really could not enjoy Pulse at all.  The japanese version felt creepy, unsure, and with this heavy feeling of hopelessness while watching it.   28 Days Later was also an excellent zombie movie and also The Horde, a french zombie film that was very entertaining.  I'll also admit to loving the Dawn of the Dead remake.  Very fun film.

Ok I'm going to stop myself cause I'll just keep going lol.  No picture for you today sadly.  After reading that you also know I'm lying because the picture is already below and huge and hard to miss.  Fail at attempt trolling.  Heres a sunset I took with my older camera that I replaced.

  1. Thai, Korean and Japanese horror films are the scariest things I ever watched hands down. New Hollywood horror just can't compare.

YOU HAZ CHRISTOPHER LEE'S AUTOGRAPH??? You're lucky I don't live in Australia and I can't break into your house to steal it! XP

  5. So this is what I expect from your sound system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIbtk0XwNIU Nothing less! Haha.

I'm not a big scary movie fan, but I do agree that most "scary" american movies aren't all that scary. I recall I was falling asleep through Paranormal Activities. I'll try to check out some of the movies you talked about. Any reccomendations? I don't shy away from subtitles.

  6. I love scary movies, which is ironic because I'm such a girl when it comes to horror flicks. I'll scream and whine and cover my eyes and jump 300 times, but I know when a movie is good or bad at the end.

And you may have Christopher Lee's autograph, but I have George Romero's autograph. :D

The original Japanese "Tale Of Two Sisters" had this one scene that scared me right out of my skin, and it's probably because it's the complete opposite of an American "jumper" scene. American flicks force you to jump by getting all of your senses to be pounded at once: high-pitched scream and/or orchestral crash, quick flashes, etc.

This scene started off creepy. You didn't know what the woman saw, but she reacted. Then when she talked about it later, you knew what was coming. And when it finally showed it, it was in total silence, and it was more than just a quick flash. I crawled backwards away from the screen and clutched a pillow. I've never had a reaction that made me move away from the screen like that.

Oh and the American remake of it was crap.

  7. Peachy, check out some of the films I listed if you're interested. And yeah, Tale of Two Sisters was a great film. I bought the dvd when it came out from my favourite asian site. Very enjoyable and filled with so many layers.

  10. Yea, I agree with you. American Remakes are stupid beyond repair. And I'm American... :\

The only movie I can think of that actually scared me, would be Paranormal Activity where the woman screamed as she was being dragged down the hallway. Otherwise, it was kind of a disappointment.

I'll have to watch some of those Movies you mentioned. It's really been awhile since I've actually been scared.

The ghost in Paranormal Activity = The ghost of a Velociraptor.

  12. I didnt find PA scary. I actually loled when she was pulled out of the bed and thumped onto the floor. Wasnt expecting it. I'll admit the ending was a little creepy, the one where she sits beside the bed and rocks back and forth for like a day. That was cool. The other ending was shit.

I'll be in some clips. I just need to be up during a time everyone else is awake. And thats hard considering they go to sleep in my early afternoon.

  15. I absolutely love Christopher Lee. He's a brilliant actor. I'm incredibly envious that you got to meet him. :(

  16. Unfortunately I didnt meet him. Its one thing I would love to do but I think there is zero chance of that ever happening. But you should see the amount of overseas phone calls I made everytime he was visiting a book store to sign stuff. In the end I got his new autobiography, his signature, and he also wrote my name which is super cool. It'll have to do I guess.
